Today, many people cannot sleep properly at night because of their hectic lifestyle and stress at work. Lack of sleep significantly affects your physical and mental health. Cannabidiol, or CBD, can help make you sleep better at night.

In 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) survey report noted that more than a third of American adults were not getting enough sleep. Back in 2014, it called it a “public health epidemic.”

If you are getting less than seven hours of sleep regularly, the chances are high that you will develop chronic health issues such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.  According to the University of California at Berkeley, even a night of insufficient sleep causes an increase in anxiety levels. Another study observed that good sleep prevents dementia.

The University of California at Berkeley’s report author said in a statement, “Deep sleep provides a nocturnal soothing balm, taking the sharp edges off our lives and lowering our anxiety. It’s a form of nocturnal therapy that many of us shortchange in this modern era of insufficient sleep.”

If you want to be healthy and fit, it is vital that you sleep for more than seven hours in the night. Not only that, a good night sleep will help you be more energetic and attentive, which will enhance your job performance.

There are plenty of reasons why people do not get enough sleep. It may be due to work pressure, relationship troubles, depression, poor sleep habits, pain, and more. There are medications available, but over-the-counter and prescription drugs can be risky to take. You have to make sure that there are no potential side effects.  It is best to use natural remedies. One such natural alternative is CBD oil.

CBD oil does not cause psychoactive effects. You won’t get high after having it. As it does not have intoxicating properties, it is safe to consume it.  A Consumer Reporter’s survey found that 10 percent of Americans used CBD to get sleep, and a majority of these respondents said that they slept better after using it.

Joseph Maroon, M.D., a neurosurgeon and a clinical professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, said that CBD contains properties that could help some people sleep better, according to Consumer Report. It eases pain and calms anxious thoughts, because of which you usually toss and turn in the bed. 

A scientific research report, titled “Cannabidiol in Anxiety and Sleep: A Large Case Series,” observed that sleep improved for those patients who were taking CBD.  With pain and anxiety lessened, you are most likely to have a good night sleep.

How Much Amount of CBD Oil to Take?

Finding out the amount of dose and timing is essential.  You may have to consider your age, weight, and gender before taking CBD oil. You can begin with small doses and then later increase the drops. Some users find relief with a dose between 1-3 mg every day, while others regular take10 to 20 mg daily. It is best to take the drops an hour before or after you have eaten something.    

There are several benefits of CBD oil, but if you have health issues and are taking other medications, it is best to consult your physician before using it.
